Mental Health and Wellbeing

Included in our H&S policy is the wellbeing of employees in addition to our First Aid and Fire Warden Team. We recognise that mental health is every bit as important as physical health and we support a happy, healthy and productive workforce.

Thankfully, mental health awareness and understanding is much more prevalent these days and we have a dedicated Wellbeing Committee that meet regularly to increase employee welfare engagement and have implemented the following support within our company:

Employee Assistance Programme

EAP is provided by Health Assured, support that is completely confidential to the individual. Depending on preference this service can be accessed via phone, website or app, 24 hours a day, seven days
a week. It is completely separate to VH so our staff can be assured that they have anonymous access to the resource. Phone based and face to face counselling is accessible to our employees and their families.

Mental Health First Aiders

Our mental health first aiders have been trained to provide a point of contact for a colleague who is experiencing a mental health issue or emotional distress. The team are not trained to be therapists or
psychiatrists but offer initial support and guidance where possible.

Regular fund raising events & keeping the conversation current

We use our company ‘intranet’ to regularly discuss Mental Health and run events to keep mental health part of our everyday conversation whilst offering tips to improve mental wellbeing.
